Compared to the old retaining thumb, this new model is already slightly locked onto the front arm using the same locking axle. Thus, you can have the retaining thumb available at any time without having to dismantle the thumb after use. It is also lightened so as not to unnecessarily load the front arm.

Your thumb is always with you. It doesn't get in the way in the folded position during work.
If necessary, you can fold it into one of two positions using the pin, lock it, and then use backhoe or slope buckets, rakes, or ripper teeth to hold whatever is needed.
